I have been kind of lazy about my blogging lately. I am trying to update things about Samuel through pictures. But truth be told Samuel has been doing a lot of neat stuff lately. Ok, neat in my eyes. Saturday he had 6 month appointment and all was well. We discussed a variety of things. The main thing his bottles. Samuel has been having cereal in every bottle for a while now. So we thought, let us see if he will take it with out. HA! Samuel wanted nothing to do with a cereal-less bottle. So I emailed the doctor to find out if he can just have cereal. Dave compared it to one day someone telling me I can only have chicken broth. Uh, good point. So for now Samuel eats his cereal enriched bottles, did I mention he officially holds his own bottle too? I also told the doctor about the many food allergies I thought Samuel had. He didn't seem to think that was the case. So Samuel has been eating carrots (and loving them) and tonight tried peaches. He liked those too! But they are so much more runny than carrots so they got everywhere. He gets so excited to eat. He is also learning to clap. Ok not like the way you and me clap but it is an attempt. We say YEAAAH and he claps. Now, like everything else he only does this when he wants to. Never ever when we want to show someone. He grabs at everything. We no longer let him sit in his chair on the table at dinner because he grabs at everything around him. But he sits in his highchair. My hope is that even though he eats before us, I want him to be use to eating with us. Wow, this is getting long! He tastes everything that goes on his feet to make sure it is "okay" (yes I did mean to type feet). Diaper changes are so fun for him because he has his feet for entertainment. Oh to be that flexible. I can't even touch my feet, should I admit that? Bedtime is now around 7:00 or 7:30. Wake up time is now back to 6:15ish. Yes that make us happy, it beats 4:00!! That was rough.

So there you have it my cliff note version of Samuel's latest and greatest. This boy amazes me everyday!

Vegas Baby

What a great weekend! Only had a few tears leaving Samuel on Friday. I got to see all my family which was wonderful. We celebretaed a 30th birthday (mine), a 40th birthday (Rick), and a 60th birthday (Mom)!! I also got to hang out with Caterina who now lives there. That was my first real night out since having Samuel, so that was a great time. I miss her!
Well, I now realize how important it is to just have Mommy and Daddy time so maybe we will do that more often (but not for a weekend because that was tooooo long).
I think Samuel grew while I was gone! Grandpa bill said he crawled 3 feet, but I have reasonable doubt :o).
Well above are a few pictures from our trip.

Random Acts Of Kindness

I HATE the ice. Yes I felt that deserved all caps. Today I drove to work and it went fine. Sam's daycare closed early so I left from work to pick him up and cruised on home. I was thinking phew this isn't so bad....that was until I turned on our street!

Pure ice. I slipped a few times but then I got to our driveway. Did my car want to make it up the driveway? Uh no. I sat there and reversed into the street and then gunned it in the driveway. No luck. I get half way there and slllllllliiiiiiiidddddddde back down again. So I called Dave because surely he could fix this from work. He said to park in the street so I slid into the street and parked my car. It isn't over. Next issue the same driveway that did not want to let my car up, did not want to let my feet up. I decided to keep Sam in his car seat thinking if I fell it would be safer. I couldn't do it. Every time I tried to walk I would slip. So there I am standing in the street with Samuel crying next to me in his car seat. It was awful. Then a car stopped! And a guy got out and said "need some help". Thank God! He walked Samuel up the driveway and then came back down and walked me up the driveway. Seriously if I was a hugger I would of hugged him. In fact I almost became a hugger today, but he probably would of thought I was weird because he was probably only in high school.

Dave got home, pulled my car in the garage first try. Darn him!

Well, this will probably be my last post before our trip. Dave's parents are braving the roads to come down here tomorrow. We leave Friday and come home Sunday. I am going to miss my little Samuel A TON. But Mommy and Daddy need this!

I Only Look Sweet And Innocent

Dear Samuel,
Today you got your first bad report. It said:

Today I was: Fussy unless being held.

Are you getting teeth?

Love,
Mommy

Mom and Samuel Watch A Movie

John Tucker Must Die
(great movie)

Dave's Bored Too...

Ok, ice sucks way more than snow! I am glad he got so bored he decided to get the ice off my car. After all, I so graciously gave up my spot in the garage for him.

Boring

Ok, I need to stop eating cupcakes. As I clock hour number 19 on the internet this weekend it hit me. Spring clothes! And after I had Samuel in one of my post pregnancy body fits I got rid of ALL my spring/summer clothes. Yes, now they would of probably fit, but the day I tried them on they didn't and I got rid of them. It made complete sense at the time, as I cried becasue I would never be cute and tan again. Dave just shook his head and made sure he got a receipt at goodwill for tax purposes.

I have also realized that after size 9 months Samuel has no clothes. I guess it is time to start stocking up. I haven't really needed to buy any clothes since Samuel was born (though I did BUY clothes).

P.S.
Dave won't let me get Samuel a shirt that says "I Love Mommy", ok I know it is so obvious he doesn't need a shirt that says it.

P.S.S.
I have 30 minutes to order CABLEFLEX personal gym. I will get a free CABLEFLEX bag! Spring clothes here I come. I was so suppose to watch this infomercial. It is a sign!

Day 2....This Is Getting Boring

I am becoming very domesticated while being stuck at home. Yesterday I baked 2 dozen cupcakes and made meatloaf muffins and mashed potatoes. This morning I made homemade hash browns and plan on making some banana bread later today. This little ice storm is so not good on my figure. I eat like I may never get to eat again!

I am a little bummed, I was suppose to start preparing for our Vegas trip. You know, get my hair done and a manicure and pedicure. Not to mention I needed to buy new shoes. Sigh....poor me. We leave Friday and so far no mental breakdown at the thought of leaving Samuel for 3 days! I know he will be in good hands with Grandma Carol and Papa Bill.

While bored, I also decided it was a good time to take out Samuel's high chair. Yesterdays lunch cereal and apple juice! We also tried squash but his red cheeks are back!!??! The red cheeks were what led the doctor to believe he couldn't eat green beans? Could he seriously be allergic to both of those??

Dave said he could get me to the mall safely today. Hmmmm...........

"Iced In"

Looks like we are spending the weekend inside. Well, guess I will just have to do some online shopping.

6 Months!

Samuel has been having too much fun! So much fun yesterday that he fell asleep in his exersaucer. He can now hold himself up when you sit him up. I am really proud of that! He still talks all the time. He loves apple juice and tried green beans. But he hasn't had them again because it turns out he may be allergic. I thought people made up to being allergic to veggies like his dad says he is "allergic" to corn. He loves standing and grabbing at everything in his sight. He also gives kisses all the time. He laughs all the time. The funniest thing to him is eating cereal out of the bowl! Who knows.

Can't wait to see what the next 6 months hold.

Rash & Jumper

Ok, when I have my next baby (did I say when-progress it use to be "if") I am going to be a pro. I will NOT email the doctor's office every week (more than once). I swear! I guess you know where this is going. Yes we have a new ailment. Samuel has this rash and the poor little guy is miserable. It is all over his face and ears. It is even on his eyelids! We think it is from his antibiotics which he is now off of. Well I didn't know what I could give him or how much of what I could give him. Although, I did give him Benadryl last night. I called Ann (Dave's sister) instead of the emergency number. I figured a rash was not an emergency. A fever of 100.5 is (ok now I know with babies you don't worry about 100.5) but not a rash. Ann could be my new after hour emergency number :o).

So anyway, I emailed the doctor today. They prescribed steroid that should solve the problem. I made a point of telling them in the email that Samuel doesn't need to come in!

He got his first dose tonight, hopefully he will feel better in the morning. Or at least build some muscles!!

The new favorite toy is the jumper! He is a dancing machine!

This is my last post I will write while in my 20's.

Hello!

He's Back!

Samuel got the okay and went to daycare today. They said he was so happy all day long. He must have missed his girls. He has been laughing and smiling since he got home. It is so good to have him happy and healthy again. He gave us a little scare.

I told the doctor that we wouldn't be back until Samul's 6 month check up! He said that is right. And then I let him know that was next week :o). But he assured me that I am there just as much as every other "first" Mommy. Next time it will be "been there done that".

Didn't They Tell You The Medicine Can Turn His Poop Red?

NO!!!!! Do you really think I would of frantically rushed here had I known that Sam's diaper wasn't full of blood???????

Talk about a scare. The antibiotic Sam is on for his earache evidently will turn one in ten babies poop (bowel movement if do not like "poop") red. I now know blood will dry black and dye will dry red. So to all you Mommies if you happen to get Omnicef prescribed for your baby and they have a red diaper, see what color it dries before you rush to Urgent Care.

This one is also going in the baby book that I will one day update.

Saturday, January 06, 2007

Well we were back at the doctor's office today. Lucky for us our Pediatrician was working today so we didn't have to go to Urgent Care. Samuel has been waking up crying the last few nights and only eating half of his bottle. Well today he stopped eating all together. He would just scream. Turns out that he now has an ear infection and soar throat too. Poor little guy. He just have a tough time lately. But the good news is his RSV seems to be under control. The doctor said on a scale of 1-10 Samuel was a 3. YIPEE!

I think we probably cover the rent at his office as much as we seem to be there. In fact, the doctor thinks Samuel likes him more than us! He said he can live with him and we can get him on the weekends.....hmmmmm....tempting :o). He also pointed out to us that Samuel stopped crying the minute he walked in the room.

Samuel's Grandma Carol and Papa Bill were here this week to help take care of him. They spent Thursday and Friday with us. Samuel sure got spoiled! Rumor has it Papa Bill even sang and danced for him! Where was the camera!!!!!! Samuel was sad to see them go (and so were we) but they will be back in a few weeks to watch him while Mommy and Daddy go to Vegas for the weekend!

We are going back to the doctor Monday to make sure he is getting better. Hopefully he can go back to daycare next week. His teacher called me yesterday to tell me how much she missed him!

Samuel hasn't been just laying around being sick though. The picture above is post roll-over about a week ago. We missed it and he hasn't done it again but that doesn't matter. He still did it and when I actually update his baby book I am putting it down. He is also so close to sitting up on his own. He is going to be 6 months old this week, I can't believe it.

Update

We went to the doctor this morning. Samuel isn't doing better but he isn't doing worse. His cough sounds yucky today. Doctor said to call in the morning with an update. More than likely he will just have to see Samuel every day and that is fine with us. He said that he admitted 2 babies yesterday for RSV.

As you can see from above Samuel is still in good spirits.

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

We just can't seem to get healthy! I took Samuel to the doctor today for what I thought was a cough. It turns out that Samuel has RSV. I don't know much about RSV, except that it is a respiratory virus that for adults can be just like a cold but for infants it can become more serious. We are treating Samuel at home with breathing treatments every 4 hours. He goes back to the doctor tomorrow to make sure he is improving. We are pretty sure he can't go back to daycare for a week! Dave's parents are driving down tomorrow to help out this week so we can go to work. Thank goodness!

The good news is that even though Samuel isn't feeling well he is still laughing and smiling all the time.

Keep him in your thoughts! I will update after his appointment tomorrow.
