The Many Expressions of One Month

Cooper Is One Month Old!

Happy Birthday, Cooper!

Hard to believe you are already one month old, I would say it seems like yesterday that you were born, but I remember yesterday and I wasn't having you. But I can say that this month flew by!!

According to our scale here at home you weigh 10 pounds, which translates to zero if you ask me. I believe our scale weighs at least 10 pounds heavy. But, if it was right then you have gained 4 pounds and that I believe. You are eating every 3 hours (sometimes 2) and about 5-6 ounces! You are on the same super expensive formula your brother was on. So right now you go through almost 3 cans a week. Besides eating you sleep and poop just like every other newborn.

You finally got night and day figured out. So though you are up every 3 hours to eat at night you go right back to sleep, in your bouncy chair. My goal for this week is to break that habit and get you in your crib. You spend about 3 hours (maybe more) total awake each day. Which is nice, I love looking at your blue eyes. I hope they stay blue!! And I am not just saying that because I have blue eyes...I don't....your dad does.

You are quite patient with your big brother. He steps on you, pulls off your socks, squeezes your hands and feet, pokes you in the eye, pokes you in the nose, steals your binky and takes your bottle away from you when you are not close to being finished. He also wakes you from a peaceful sleep every morning with a very loud "Hi DUPER!!" and about 10 kisses. I don't even get 10 kisses. I am sure in your mind you can't wait to be mobile, paybacks!!

I can't wait to see what month 2 brings us. Hopefully a few smiles that are not induced by gas!!

We love you Cooper!!!

Hey Ladies!

Baby Mama Drama

I took Cooper to his first movie today. We went to see Baby Mama. I would love to give you a review of the movie, but you see I can't. Because about 45 minutes into the movie the picture went upside down and the sound messed up. They refunded my money but not my calories from the popcorn and cherry coke.

Sigh.

Cheesin'

Dave thinks Samuel looks like him...but I beg to differ.

SAHM

I could totally be a SAHM if my (soon to be) two year old stayed in daycare and my 3 week old slept as much as he does now. I even made Samuel some cookies to have when he gets home. I feel domestic. My house smells great too! Granted the cookies came out of a tub but still.

I have also started looking up ideas for Samuel's birthday. Okay too much time on my hands if I am planning a birthday that is in JULY!

With all this time how does it go so fast?? There is a possibility that I will have to go back to work in 4 weeks and the thought just frightens me. I hate the thought of leaving my baby. Yes even if I can't be a SAHM.

Or could I be a SAHM????

Sharing!

Samuel has to try out everything we bring out for his brother's entertainment. And maybe at 3 weeks old not much is entertaining to Cooper, Samuel is finding much joy with all of his things.

We need to work on sharing because Samuel lives by this philosophy:

What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine.

Mommy Groups

I decided that it was time for me to branch out and try to meet more Mommies in my area! I have great friends, don't get me wrong, but it just seems like we never hang out (that time issue) or have different interests (I think I am boring now). How could they not want to talk about poop and spit up?? I need time to gripe about being a Mommy and talk about how fun it is too! Not to mention just have some time with the girls. So I have joined two groups so far. I haven't actually gone to any of the activities yet. Go figure!

We will see if this is something I actually follow through with. I may end up signing up for like 20 and not go. Believe it or not I am shy ;o).

Wish me luck!

Morning At The Zoo

This is what Cooper did.

Dave wants a pet flamingo.

I need to get a picture of Samuel sleeping like this. He does.

So Tired!

Life is much easier with a double stroller.

Deep Conversation

Posing

Snack Time

Me and my boys.

The best part of the zoo is that Samuel has been sleeping for 2.5 hours so far!

Last Night

You called every baby at Target "Cooper" except Cooper. You still call him "baby".

Cooper is loving bath time now that he doesn't have to have sponge baths.

Bye Bye Elastic Waists and Oversized Shirts

Last Night

Another adventure with my favorite topic POOP! Yes, our lives now revolve around poop. And it just so happens that both of my boys are having pooping issues at the present time. Wonderful.

Last night Dave went to go change Samuel's diaper and put him in his pj's. When he picked up him up he noticed his bottom was wet. I thought, big deal he sat in something. Then I hear "oh no Christy come here". He had explosive diarrhea. I hear Dave telling Samuel to tell us when he poopies and I get in there to a mess. It had been there awhile. Poor guy! I have to convince him a bath will make his bottom feel better and he finally goes. And sits on his knees the whole time, I don't think he realized that his bottom was still in the water. So as he took his bath, we had fun reciting all the body parts he knows. Eyes, ears, mouth, nose, chin, face, elbow, hands, knees, feet, and toes. What we didn't recite was bottom and apparently his bottom was upset over that. So it spoke to us in the form of...you guessed it another explosion! Bath water instantly not clear anymore. I snatched him out of the tub before it spread too close to him washed him off and all the while he is looking at me like I wasn't done with my bath. Dave to the rescue he thankfully cleans tub accidents (and throw up accidents). I got Samuel dressed and he went in the bathroom to cheer his Dad on by saying "poop poop" as Dave cleaned it up. The "poop" has caused a HORRIBLE rash. And after Samuel got dressed and helped his dad clean it up he came out to hang out. He sat down and said "oooooh" and then stood up and pointed at his bottom and said "hurt". Then he found a book and we read it and he went to bed. Just like that he forgot. But I didn't.

I emailed the doctor this morning to give them my diagnosis as to why Samuel has diarrhea. Last week I blamed his antibiotic this week I blame his breathing treatment medicine. After all, it couldn't be a virus. I need a reason!!

I did mention that BOTH of my boys were having poop issues. Cooper's problem has been like this:
Pebbles, normal, no poop, pebbles, diarrhea and now rocks. So I emailed the doctor about him too. We are thinking a simple formula change will help him. But really, they must think I am obsessed with poop since I have emailed them numerous times in the past 2 weeks describing someones poop (or stools). And I am starting to wonder if I am.

A Visit With Grandpa and Grandpa

The boys loved their visit with Grandma and Grandpa C. Samuel; however, decided they are both Grandpa! Grandma loved that! He was at the door today looking for Grandpa. So which one was he looking for? I say both.

Totally unrelated, but when we chose Samuel's name I said I didn't want anyone calling him Sammy. Well, that didn't work, he calls himself Sammy!! How the heck did that happen?

Fwimming!

Not too sure

On the way home today Samuel kept saying "I fwim I fwim". Can't wait for "fwim" lessons to start!!

2 Weeks

Cooper you turned two weeks yesterday. I can already tell you that your brother got way more baths than you and I changed his outfits a lot more. So I apologize in advance about that. I may have even changed his diaper more....yikes! The good thing is you don't get too dirty during the day while you are playing. Oh that would be because you sleep during the day and are awake at night! Yes, that is right my son you have your days and nights mixed up. Hoping by 4 weeks I can say that is done.

You pretty much sleep so not much to report. But you did have your two week appointment today and you weighed.......6 lbs 14.5 oz. That means you gained 9.5 oz in two weeks. You were 18 1/4 inches. Way to go. The doctor said you were her first two weeker of the day that had lost their umbilical cord and loved your blond hair. She thought you were so sweet. Your regular pediatrician is out of the country so you won't see him until your two month appointment. But we like Dr. Jones just the same.

You are a really sweet baby. Only cry when you are hungry or dirty diaper. Just like your brother. But I promise I won't compare the two of you all the time! I love your gas smiles because it is a sneak preview of all the smiles to come in the future.

So Cooper here is to two weeks! I just want to cherish all these moments they go so fast! Yes even the moments when I think I will loose my mind!!!!

And Just Like That It Was Gone

You are officially cordless. It happened sometime in the middle of the night Thursday. I can't help but feel a little sad that it is gone.

A Picture Is Worth 1000 Words

TGIF!!! I am going to summarize my week...but to be honest I think I have already blocked most of it out.

What a week! Adjusting to going from Mommy of one to Mommy of two is a bit more of a challenge than I expected. Sure I didn't think it would be a walk in the park but there is something to be said about Mommy amnesia. I think I completely forgot about the newborn stage with Samuel.

Sunday night we were at Urgent Care with Samuel. Turns out he had pneumonia. So on Monday he needed to stay home with me. Monday was also Dave's first day back at work. WHOA! The pictures I posted illustrate how that went. Samuel pretty much got away with whatever he wanted. The thing with Samuel, and this has always been true, no matter how sick he is he doesn't act it. But the visit with his Pediatrician on Monday brought us to Tuesday. Day two home with Samuel and Cooper. Which was pretty much the same as Monday. Dave got home from work and probably though I lost it. I just cried and cried...thank you baby blues!

I seriously thought I was going to loose it. Cooper has his days and nights mixed up so that means no sleep for Mommy and Daddy.

Wednesday my Mom arrived thank goodness! Yesterday I took Samuel and Cooper to get their pictures done. I had visions of Samuel sweetly kissing his brother, gazing in his eyes, and maybe even holding his hands. NOT. Samuel had a break down (which was later justified by a dirty diaper I didn't know about) and Cooper slept through all his pictures .

The week was just poop. Literally. While being sleep deprived and having a sick boy. I obsessed about poop too! Cooper wouldn't poop and Samuel couldn't stop pooping (thank you antibiotics).

But today is Friday, Cooper slept last night and I think it will be a better day! I still LOVE my sweet boys and wouldn't trade this life for anything. But I was definitely challenged by motherhood this week. I am sure this is just the beginning.

I would like to dedicate this post to all the stay at home moms out there! I have a new respect for you and your job!

Stttttttretch

Ellen??

Samuel has been home sick the past few days (I will post about that when I brave enough to let my guard down and tell you how it really was) and I discovered a crush he has. The boy does not watch TV, but yesterday when Ellen was on Samuel started saying hi to the tv, then blew kisses and then said "I love you".

I told Dave the story and all he said was "he doesn't know does he". No, he doesn't know and I don't want to break his heart right now and tell him. Surely this is just an innocent crush he will grow out of.

Weekend In Review

Cooper did a lot of sleeping and Samuel did a lot of playing.
